The first in a three part mini series based on the book by Sarah Waters. Follows Nancy Astley (Rachel Stirling), later called Nan King as she discovers life and love beyond the oyster parlor she grew up in. Most significant in this episode is the friendship she forms with male impersonator/performer Kitty Butler (Keeley Hawes).

Actresses: Rachael Stirling & Keeley Hawes
In this scene Stirling is dancing with a boy from the orchestra after a performance. Hawes leaves the theater (or is this a restaurant?), obvious distressed by the fact that Stirling was having a good time with the boy. Stirling follows her out to a carriage, where they head back to their room. After arguing Hawes tells Stirling 'I hate the way you make me feel!'. They proceed to kiss in the carriage.

Somewhat a continuation of the last scene. This one begins in their room where they continue to kiss and undress each other. The two make love (this is fairly graphic - nice eye candy). The scene cuts out on the two falling asleep in each others arms.

Another scene towards the end of this episode shows a series of clips of various moments between Stirling and Hawes. Many of which show them kissing, and generally loving each other, mixed in with their performances on stage. The end of these clips shows Hawes under the covers making love to Keeley, who is vocally showing her appreciation of what Hawes is doing.

This was an awesome book, and also a great movie. One of the few movies I can say did the book justice. I loved the first part, especially the romance between the two main characters. There were a few other scenes, especially the last scene at the end - I chose to omit this so that it wouldn't spoil the cliffhanger. This series is definitely worth watching.
