The Russian group t.A.T.u (original group name was Taty) is made up of two teenage girls, Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina. This was their first video. The video was in MTV Russia's Top 10 playlist for two months and was frequently aired over one year later. The hit song was
"Ya Soshla s Uma" (english title: "All The Things She Said") which tells the story of a lesbian love affair between two young girls. It describes the turmoil in a girl's head. She's in love with another girl and she doesn't understand what's going on, she's both scared and happy, and everyone around her refuses to even try to understand her.
Since then they've released their first album which has sold more than 1 million copies.

Girls in video:
Yulia Volkova & Lena Katina

The video shows them kissing and hugging in the rain but in very short sequences ofcourse.

The song is really good. After having listened to it a few times, it sticks in your head. Before I watched the video, I saw some stills from it and I thought it would be a Russian Britney Spears duo but I was pleasently suprised how good the song was.
The images above are stills from the video but also official promotion photos and photos from concerts and so on..

The group signed a deal with Interscope Records and at the same time changed their name to t.A.T.u.
The have since then released their first English album, "200 km/h in the Wrong Lane".

Quotes from interviews with Yulia and Lena:
"We are singing about our love. Love between girl and girl."
"Our producer is a very good psychologist, and that's why he can feel all the feelings that we have."
"Every song is about our life. Everybody thinks we are lesbians. But we just love each other."

The english version of "Ya Soshla s Uma" is not as good as the original. Personally, I think they have ruined it. The original Russian version has a nicer flow and less electric guitars. They should have kept the music intact. Well, at least the video is the same..
