In order to play "Hot Date", you need both the original copy of "The Sims" + this add-on.
"The Sims", released earlier in 2001, became an enormous success. It's not so easy to explain what this game is all about. There's no obvious goal like in so many other games and you don't really do that much "constructive".
You first choose a character to play (you choose name, hair, body-type and clothes for example) and then either buy a house or build one of your own. You can also download literally thousands of "characters" (faces, bodies, clothes) from the net to add to the allready exsisting ones. When you've chosen your character and have a house to live in, you begin playing the game.
First of all, you need a job so that you have a steady income. With the money you earn, you can buy new things to the house, like furnitures, decorations and other things to make the house feel more comfortable. It's the same with these things, you can download more of them from the net.
Now comes the really interresting part of the game. Your female character of course needs friends and a loved one to be happy. You live in a small neighborhood and in the other houses, you may be able to find a girl to befriend, and if things work out well, you two might fall in love and move in together. This is the only game as far as I know where you can play a female character and be allowed to date other women!
Ok, so what's the add-on "Hot Date" then? In the original game, you couldn't leave the property of your house. You were stuck there unless you choosed to play another character in the neighborhood. In "Hot Date", you can take your date downtown to several different places including various restaurants, shops and parks. You can also do more things with the girl you're dating. You can make out quite heavily, "play" with her in the Jacuzzi and play footsie under the table when you're at a restaurant. |
To further give you an idea what you can do in the game when you're dating the girl of your choice, I will explain what's happening in the various still-images that I've captured from the game:
Image 1-4:
My character had earlier befriended another girl in the neighborhood. She first phoned her and asked if she wanted to come over to the house which she gladly did. This other girl lives with her boyfriend but he was of course not invited.. He actually came over later despite this, but my character didn't let him into the house. She asked him to leave immediately...:)
So after a couple of more visits, the two girls had become really good friends so my character decided to ask the other girl if she wanted to take a taxi downtown. When they got there, my character first bought her one or two drinks, then took her to this restaurant you see in the stills.
So here they are, sitting and waiting for their gourmet dinner (costed a lot of money but it will soon turn out that it was worth it). My character asks the other girl if she wants to cuddle a bit like girlfriends do... They move closer to each other and after a while, my character decides to try and kiss her but the other girl pushes her away and looks very angry.
She doesn't leave though, so after complimenting her looks and playing footsie under the table, she tries to kiss her again and this time she doesn't back away. After kissing a few times, they begin to make out heavily right there in the restaurant! The heart above the girls, informs you that they've fallen in love with each other. Later on a man comes to the table and plays violin for them.

After the dinner, the two girls walk out from the restaurant and sits down on something (I don't know the english name) and make out even more. My character doesn't want the evening to end there so she invites her back to her place. Later the two of them move into together. I don't know what happened to her boyfriend but who cares..:)
Now with two incomes, the girls can afford to buy some really beautiful furnitures for the house and even make the house bigger with new rooms and a second floor. Later on, they adopt a child and with this happy event, I decided to end this perticular game.

In another game, my new character and the girl who she's dating are standing in a street-corner kissing each other.
Image 10-11:
The walk into a hamburger-restaurant (not so classy this time) and while waiting for the food, they play footsie under the table. Then they kiss again.
Image 12-13:
After leaving the hamburger-restaurant, my character decides to buy the other girl flowers (to compensate for the disastrous choice of restaurant?) which of course is greatly appreciated.
Image 14-17:
Some days later, the two of them are having an evening picknick in a park, where they first kiss each other while sitting on the blanket. Then they lay down on it and make out.
Image 18:
This is from yet another game, with a new character and this is the big evening when my character will ask the other girl if she would like to move in with her and she of course wants to look as good as possible, so she goes into the bedroom to try on various outfits.
Image 19-25:
The other girl comes over and they decide to jump into the outdoor Jacuzzi. They massage each other's shoulders and then begin to kiss and later make out quite heavily as you can see in the stills. It ends with my character diving under the surface to "play" with the other girl..

Later the same evening, they're in the living room dancing with each other and kissing some more.

This game is incredibly fun to play! I love that you can choose from so many characters. There are people all around the world who have created some fantastic looking female characters and a wide variety of outfits for them to wear. Not to mention the fact that you can play them as lesbians but that's so obvious..:)
I have to mention another episode where a thing happened which came as a big surprise to me. My character was in a steady relationship but decided to fool around a bit with another girl in the neighborhood. In the beginning, all went well. They met each other secretly when my character's girlfriend wasn't at home. They also met each other downtown. One evening when they stood outside a shop kissing each other, the girlfriend suddenly showed up and was absolutely furious!!!! After that, my character couldn't even speak with her and it almost turned into a physical fight!
About the kissing and build-up rating, both being set to "5". How can you rate them in any other way when it's entirely up to you to decide how to seduce the other girl and where and how often to kiss her? |
