Plot: (from Eurozine)
The ages-old Germanic legend is reworked into a softcore sizzler by producer David Friedman. Handsome knight Siegfried battles villains and dragons to save his king and for the love of the beautiful Kriemheld (Sybil Danning).
Lesbian content:
Kriemheld, who's the Amazon Queen of Iceland, has a lesbian relationship with Ortlinde (Flavia Keyt), one of her lady-in-waitings.
The most interesting thing about this movie is actually not in the movie. It is what is supposed to have happened after this movie was completed. Many german newspapers reported that Sybil Danning and Flavia Keyt began a real-life affair shortly afterwards. I even remember a swedish article about Sybil Danning, from the mid 1980s, which mentioned this affair. Sybil Danning certainly doesn't give off any lesbian vibes in this movie, but she developed a much more butch look and personality later on. She also went on to play many more lesbian characters, and I am one of those who doesn't believe it's a mere coincidence if an actress chooses to portray numerous lesbian characters throughout her career.
