Champion golpher (Ally Sheedy) and her lover (Patsy Kensit) retreat to their Shelter Island vacation home, after Sheedy is brutally mugged. Although mutual friend (Mimi Langeland) has just decorated the home,the island offers Sheedy no shelter. Instead, a menace (Stephen Baldwin) arrives in the middle of the night. Baldwin's performance, though uneven, is the best thing about this movie. After spending much of the night trying to charm/freak out Sheedy, he bludgeons her with her own three wood. Gallons o' blood and many twists later, Sheedy, Baldwin, and the sheriff (Chris Penn) are all dead; Kensit and Langeland wind up in each other's arms.

Beware: this movie uses body doubles for sex and nude scenes! After a party at the Sheedy/Kensit home has ended, Sheedy follows Kensit to the couch. Kensit stretches out and Sheedy---or, rather her body double goes to work. Almost all of this scene is shot with body doubles. Those aren't Sheedy's hands massaging the crotch and buttocks in black panties. And that's not Kensit being massaged. Still, the action is hot, if brief and disappointing. From that point on, every sex and/or nude scene fails the smell test.

If you're thinking you're going to see Sheedy and Kensit in some genuine hot love-making, this movie is a big disappointment. The body doubles were a huge distraction for me. Had the clearly-younger models been used more convincingly I could have enjoyed it as fantasy at least. As it is, the scenes just scream, "BODY DOUBLES! BODY DOUBLES!" Baldwin, though, is fun as the menace, and some of the plot twists are worth the time.
