Turn of the century film about a pretty young country girl (Imogen Stubbs) and her efforts to make a career for herself as a teacher.

Actresses: Imogen Stubbs & Kate Buffery
The first kiss between the two is on the way to a moonlight 'skinny dip' and as such is almost obscured by the darkness. It is a little confusing as Stubbs seems to play the more aggressive role despite being the young woman seduced by her older and more experienced teacher, but it's still quite nice.

Actresses: Imogen Stubbs & Kate Buffery
There are some nice cuddily moments between the two characters but only one other kiss which is as their relationship is waning and Buffery is giving in to marrying Stubbs' uncle. Again a very dark scene and Stubbs is slightly reluctant kissing her friend as she's already announced she's going to marry her uncle so somewhat disappointing really.

This was a tv version of the D.H.Lawrence classic that came out shortly before the other "The Rainbow" movie. The circumstances seemed to lead to it's fall into obscurity, but it's actually much better than the later version. Imogen Stubbs' character is more complex and less petulant than the same character in the later movie, and of course much sexier. Kate Buffery also brought a more believable vulnerability to her character than that sledge hammer actress did in the later version.
