In this particular episode the character played by Neve Campbell is taking some hard creative writing classes in college. She is taken under the wing by her teacher (d'Abo) who's actually a lesbian. Campbell begins to form a fast friendship with her teacher, and soon starts realizing that she's attracted to her.

Actresses:
Neve Campbell & Olivia d'Abo

Standing outside a mailbox late at night, Olivia d'Abo informs student Campbell that she has secretly submitted her stories to a major publisher (or something like that). Thrilled, Campbell throws her arms around d'Abo while laughing in joy. They part, silence falls, and Campbell leans in for a kiss. And guess what? The shot is completly obscured by d'Abo's hair! Anyway, d'Abo frowns and backs away nervously. It's later revealed that d'Abo is distrustful of straight people who might be experimenting, since she's a dyed in the wool lesbian.

One of the first of the now common "straight character kisses another woman" special episodes of TV-series, this was a bit of a letdown. The point of the episode seems to be a warning to bi-curious people that they should be aware of whose feelings they hurt while exprimenting. An intresting point to be sure, but it doesn't make for good visual entertainment, if you know what I mean.
The buildup is (or was) good, mostly because Campbell had already garnered some buzz for her classic girl-girl scenes in an earlier very famous movie we've all seen. But the kiss here lasts about two seconds, and as I said, is completly covered by hair.
