One of the most talked about storylines of this season or any season had to be this one. Featuring Evan Rachel Wood and Mischa Barton as her new best friend and kindred spirit of sorts.
The storyline was slowly developed over the third and final season of the wonderful ABC Drama "Once and Again" by Executive Producers Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. Barton's character was introduced early on as Wood's new friend and week to week their relationship grew and it became increasingly clear to everyone watching this relationship was destined for more than friendship. It all culminated in this episode when Wood's step-sister, let it be known that Barton was gay. Wood at first refused to believe it and even discussed it with her shrink. But it became clear to her that it was true. Her reaction to this new revalation was to avoid Barton. Feeling she had lost Wood or possibly done something, Barton wrote Wood a heartfelt letter, confessing her feelings for. Receiving the letter, Wood was conflicted as to what to do.When she refused to talk to Barton one last time, her step-sister confronted her and encouraged her to go for it. That triggered a huge fight with Wood accusing her of having readi the letter. All of this made Wood realize maybe she felt the same way as Barton did.

Actresses: Evan Rachel Wood & Mischa Barton
The scene started with Wood reading Barton's letter (again), when Barton entered Wood's attic room, saying Wood's brother said she was home.Wood dropped the letter to the floor by the trash on impulse. Barton said she just wanted her sweater back and that she'd never bother her again. Noticing the letter laying by the garbage can, Barton pointed out that Wood missed the trash. When Wood said she never intended to throw it away Barton said the letter was a mistake and she wanted it back, because now Wood barely spoke to her. Wood responded by saying she just wanted to be friends and Barton replied she didn't want nothing Wood didn't want. Wood then made it known that Barton was so important to her, and Barton looked shocked to find that out. A hug soon followed, where Wood said she wanted to keep the letter forever. They exchanged nervous smiles for a second and then seemingly on impulse Wood pressed her lips to Barton's for an instant. Pulling back Wood was surprised at what she had just done and Barton agreed it surprised her too. Then realizing appearantly it was exactly what she wanted, they kissed again.A second longer and oh so sweet and tender. They where last shown in this scene with their forheads touching and smiling like they just found love.

Overall the finest hour of TV on the year for me. The entire episode from beginning to end was amazing to watch for the first time and everytime after.
This scene though could stand alone as an amazing moment in TV history. It really sucks that this was the culmination of the storyline and in most ways the end too, because with the cancellation of the series, we'll never get to find out what they had planned for this awe inspiring couple. Lastly what made this scene and storyline so unique was the age of the characters, Jessie was 14 and Katie was 15 or 16, it was truly revolutionary. I hope one day we do see a reunion of this series and get to see the conclusion to this storyline.

JJ:
Build-up: 4 Kissing: 2 Episode overall: 5
Evan Rachel Wood plays a possible teenage lesbian in this critically acclaimed show. Mischa Barton plays her lesbian friend who has fallen in love with her. The two kisses are short but sweet, considering this is national television. Mischa is 16 years old and Evan is 14. Young but very beautiful girls, Evan particularly.
