Roger Vadim's film was a vehicle for actress Cindy Pickett, hoping to turn her into the same kind of sensual star as Ursula Andress and Bridgette Bardot. Valerie St.John (Cindy Pickett) is a young woman who has everything except the ability to experience a normal fullfilling sexual relationship. When her husband leaves her in despair, she begins to experience an intensely passionate fantasy with a presence that visits her nightly.

Actresses:
Cindy Pickett & Joanna Cassidy

Cindy Pickett's character has a lady friend over for a visit. They go swimming nude in the pool. Cindy begins looking at her friend and we see her thoughts--a lesbian fantasy set in the 1920s.
With music a la Rudolf Valentino, and slightly fuzzy lighting, Cindy is an innocent in genuine white knee socks and sky-blue dress. Joanna Cassidy is an older sophisticate, smoking with a cigaretteholder, who urges her innocent visitor into an increasingly seductive tango. When she actually dips Cindy into a kiss, the latter breaks away like a frightened by excited rabbit. One now literally chases the other across the room, until Cindy huddles in one corner of a sofa. Joanna wastes no time diving into Cindy's lap--nothing is seen, but she's pretty clearly going down on her. Cindy protests amid startled expressions of pleasure. She is obviously being successfully seduced. The fantasy ends as Joanna sits up and dives into an embrace with Cindy that tips over the sofa, giving us a brief view of both actresses' nude bottoms and vulvas.

There's something very charming and erotically charged about his little scene--but then, this is the first lesbian scene I can remember ever seeing. Certainly the two actresses are just lovely and the fantasy itself is very nice indeed.
