The story of the last emperor of China, Pu Yi, this movie chronicles the fall into decadence of Chinese royalty before the eventual takeover by the communists.

There is a nice scene near the end of the movie between two of the emperors consorts. The first consort, played by Joan Chen is seduced by a second consort who offers her opium and proceeds to suck on her toes. Joan Chen would later go on to do an excellent lesbian scene with Anne Heche in "Wild Side'.

The scene isn't very explicit but is sexy in its own way with an interesting seduction of Chen. Chen has to play the scene in a disinterested way consistent with the character. The other woman however performs with good sexual energy.
