A woman tries to deal with a recent split-up with her lover.

Actresses:
Chantal Akerman & Claire Wauthion

Akerman goes to visit the female ex-lover (Wauthion). The scene is about 15 to 19 minutes in length. Three parts: The first is wild humping and wrestling; the second part is some very slow and passionate kissing; the final scene is simulated oral sex and tribadism, closing with a tight embrace and more humping.

The scene is rather uneven. At times very passionate and fun to watch, other times amusing because the action does not appear to be convincing.

This movie is highly unconventional, but interesting in a surprising way. If you get a hold of it, try watching it all the way through without skipping over anything, even though it might get boring and the sex scene is only at the end. The movie begins with the main character, an artist played by the director, moping around her empty apartment for several weeks, eating nothing but powdered sugar. Eventually, she leaves to seek out her ex-lover and hooks up with a truck driver with whom she hitches a ride. Their affair ends before she reaches her ex-lover's house.
I think the point of the movie is to contrast the long, silent scenes in the beginning with an explosion of sexual energy at the end. It's also interesting that the male truck driver seems more inclined to have a conversation with the woman than have sex, whereas the women don't say much to each other but jump right into bed.
