This is one of my favourite lesbian videos. It consists of three short stories, apparently based in the same house over three different generations. In essence it's a moving with the times kinda movie. The first is set somewhere in the 1940's or 50's, where lesbianism was NOT accepted and was most certainly kept very quiet. The second segment is set in the 1960's where the feminist movement was moving along and freedom of expression was more accepted. The third and final segment is set in 2000 and deals with issues relevant to nowadays.

Actresses: Vanessa Redgrave & Marian Seldes
Set in the 1940's or 50's, a lesbian couple goes to see a movie together, obviously their relationship is VERY much in the closet and they have to politely fend off the advances of a male admirer on leaving the cinema. Needless to say the women are in their late 50's or early 60's. That same evening the one partner has a stroke and is rushed to the hospital, where her girlfriend cannot see her because they are not related. The partner dies that night and the girlfriend, who is waiting in the lounge at the hospital, is not informed, as she is not her next of kin. The rest of the segment deals with the nephew who has come to finalise the estate, as the house was in his deceased Aunt's name. All in all one gets to see how difficult things must have been for lesbians in those early years. A very poignant reminder of how fortunate most of us are these days.

Actresses: Michelle Williams & Cloë Sevigny
Set in the 1960's where the feminist movement was at it's height, you have Chloe and Michelle who one night meet at a gay bar. Michelle's friends don't approve as Chloe is a butch lesbian dressed in men's clothing and essentially goes against their feministic ideals. The love scenes are beautiful, in fact breathtakingly romantic and amusing at times. Both women are really sexy and I have watched this video again on numerous occassions. Their are some cringe scenes when you want to cringe with embarrassment for their part as only a fellow lesbian can! ;-). Thoroughly enjoyable, romantic and not sleazy as alot of lesbian films can be.

Actresses: Ellen DeGeneres & Sharon Stone
This was the hottest segment of them both (the first had no love scenes to speak of). Although the second segment had really sexy, well suited actresses set together, the combination of Ellen and Sharon is well Divine, darling. These two women together make for electric, toe curling, lovemaking.....with out the sleaze. WOW, too yummy!
Set in 2000, it deals with a lesbian couple in a settled loving relationship who want to have a baby. AvuWallah(sp?)...artificial insemination, along with many amusing incidents along the way.

This is a celebration, an understanding of past lesbian trials and certainly a growing curve in our lesbian history. A fabulous view. I've had my mother and straight friends all watch it and they all agree....it's a truly lovely movie. A must if you want your family or friends to understand the trials lesbians have gone through to reach where we are today.
