Happy campers is a flick which tries hard to make summer camp a huge metaphor for life -- but generally fails. Dominique Swain is an eighteen-year-old camp director full of energy. The (erotic) star of this film, however, is James King. She is a waifish "free spirit" kind of counselor -- who teaches the girls to do strip teases (for dollar bills) -- and who likes to go bathing topless in the lake. Swain displays a few tasty bikini shots herself (showing off a very shapely rear).

Actresses:
Dominique Swain & James King

King initiates the relationship with Swain early in the film by sliding her hand deliciously up her nightgown, but is interrupted.
King and Swain eventually kiss at the end. It's spontaneous and cute, but Swain dimisses it as silly (since, in her mind, it couldn't lead to anything more physical) which hurts King's feelings.

I had originally rented this film to see Dominique Swain kiss another girl. It was nice, but Dominique, I hate to say -- was much more enchanting at fourteen than she is now as a young adult.
Although the sexual humor of this film is definitely R-rated, the physical intimacy is barely PG. The level of crudeness, however, is actually quite amazing given that most of the cast (the kids) are only in their young teens.
Is this movie destined to become a future camp classic (get it)? We'll see.
