Morena is a "registered companion" (a high-end, unionized courtesan) traveling with the ship, living in her own shuttle in the hangar bay. In the pilot episode "The Train Job" she's first introduced in her shuttle brushing the hair of ship's mechanic Jewel, who asks "Do you do this for all your clients?" The captain shows up to order Jewel back to work, then asks Morena "You servicing crew now?" as if Morena was seducing Jewel even though Jewel showed interest in the male doctor traveling with them.
