In this final episode of series three the question still remains will Helen (Simone Lahbib) come out of the closet and declare her undying love for Nikki (Mandana Jones)? Being torn apart by her feelings for Nikki and her high moral standards regarding her job, Helen bounces straight into the arms of Larkhalls Medical Officer, Dr. Thomas Waugh.
Helen, acting governor grade one of HMP Larkhall, has made it her "job description" to formulate an appeal for Nikki, who's in prison for killing an policeofficer, to set her free. Being pressured by her arch rival senior prison officer Fenner, who has incriminating evidence of the liason between her and Nikki, Helen decides that she can't allow Fenner to jeopardise Nikki's appeal and she tenders her resignation.

On the eve of Nikki's trial at the appeals court Helen tells Nikki of her resignation due to Fenners manipulations. Nikki begs Helen to reconsider. Nikki is afraid that if she might lose her appeal she'd be stuck in prison and has to face another 10 years without Helen, her 'hope'. Helen is determined and she makes Nikki promise to focus on winning her appeal before saying a tearful goodbye.

The appeals court rules that the original conviction be substituted with that of manslaughter, and Nikki, already served the time, is free to go. A celebration party is taking place in Nikki and Trisha's club. Trisha, Nikki's ex-girlfriend, is hoping for a reconciliation with Nikki but this is spoilt when Helen turns up to offer her congratulations. For a moment it looks like Helen might admit her true feelings but seeing Thrisha at the bar she loses her nerve and leaves the club. Trisha finally sets Nikki free and persuades her to go after Helen.

Out in the street, Helen reveals that her relationship with Thomas is over. Helen asks a stunned Nikki if there's any possibility of them trying again
by saying: "Thomas is gorgeous, he's everything you would want in a man. but I want a woman!"
Nikki, who never stopped loving Helen, embraces her and in the full view of everyone in the street, they make up with a passionate kisses.

Shell (Debra Stephenson) and Denny (Alicya Eyo) (not really an item) escaped prison some time ago and ran off to Spain. Shell's practical joke on one of the prison officers leads to their apprehension. They are sunbathing when they are approached by two officers of the Spanish police. When they are told that they are under arrest, Shell and Denny run to the end of the yacht and jump into the sea.

Highly-charged prison drama, the best ever! The cast, the setting, the storylines are extremly intens and powerful.
Seeing Helen struggle with her feelings for Nikki (and her professional career), played so recognizable by Simone Lahbib, makes your heart beat faster. The longing, the confusing, the distracts, all extremly tense play by both actresses. Excellent Series, a must-see.
And yes, they live happily ever after...
