Kim Kärnfalk, one part of the duo Nina & Kim has come out as bisexual. There have been many speculations regarding Nina and Kim's sexual preference in the past. They've been asked several times if the have a relationship with each other, but the truth is that they're not together. "I feel that many people are misusing the word bisexual"

She has carried her secret for 15 years. Now Kim Kärnfalk chooses to speak openly about her bisexuality. "I've been living a bit of a double life. I had my first girlfriend when I was 15, but I've always kept my bisexuality a secret."

The are many reasons why Kim has now decided to let everyone now. "My family has had a hard time accepting this. They haven't really understood that it's not just a phase in my life. But now my sister and my mother are gonna participate in this year's Pride Festival, and this makes me so incredibly glad.
I also feel that many people are misusing the word bisexual. This has made me reluctant from talking about it. Bisexuality for me is about wanting to start a family with a man or a woman, and not about making out with a girl in a club.
Finally there have been so many rumours flying around. It's been a tremendous preasure for me to do interviews and knowing that questions about my sexuality will come up.
"

Nina & Kim will perform at this year's festival. "I owe the people at Pride so much. They have inspired me to take this step. Last year I watched the parade and I was touched by all the love I saw, and I felt so ashamed for not participating. I don't want to stand on the side again."

Kim has had relationships with men as well as women, but her relationships with women have obviously been problematic because of the fact that she couldn't show her love for her partner publicly. "But with my friends and family, I've always stood up for what I am. Whenever there have been couples dinners, I've always taken my girlfriends with me."

Are you seeing someone right now?
Kim laughs and says: "I don't want to talk about this. I gotta keep something for myself."

Do you want to have children?
"I really want to have children. My dream is to start a family, but nothing says it has to be with a man."

What kind of reactions do you hope for now when you've come out?
"There are few out bisexuals. I hope there's a little girl somewhere who recognizes herself in me, and who dares to feel proud over herself. I'm just an ordinary small-town girl who happened to be born with the ability to fall in love with both men and women."
